The song reflects the nostalgic undertones of growing up in the 90’s packed into a modern indie song reminiscent of the Myspace era. “A Hurt Like That” reflects on the universal experience of watching a partner move on contrasted by the a self-inflicted environment of being surrounded by the embodiment of their presence.
